A foldable iPhone will not be Apple’s first launch as far as unveiling a series of devices with a unique form factor goes. Instead, a new report claims that the company will mass produce a foldable hybrid by late 2025, suggesting that we may get a product that is an amalgamation of a MacBook and iPad. After all, the latest information claims that the device sports a 20.3-inch display, which only means that Apple could attempt to combine two product categories.

A foldable iPhone will reportedly launch in two display sizes and is said to arrive in 2026

A new investor note from analyst Jeff Pu that was spotted by 9to5Mac mentions the mass production of a foldable hybrid with a massive display. It is not the first time that such a device has been discussed, as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned its development previously. However, based on Kuo’s prediction, this foldable hybrid will arrive much later in 2027. Strange enough, this was the only product reportedly in the development schedule, and Kuo made no mention of a foldable iPhone.

Fortunately, Pu does not share the same thoughts, stating that Apple’s biggest revenue generator will arrive in a new form factor in 2026. The foldable iPhone is said to launch in two display sizes of 7.9 inches and 8.3 inches. Apple has been reported to be working on several foldable iPhone prototypes before, but has been hesitant to enter the market due to durability concerns. The company is also worried about design imperfections such as that visible crease we have witnessed or every foldable launched in the past few years.

Lastly, the high price of the foldable iPhone might push away consumers, going back to the ‘candy bar’ form factor. Apple could be pushing forth with a foldable hybrid launch first because a smaller device would have a higher point of failure. Furthermore, since iPhones sell in droves worldwide, more defective products mean that Apple would have to issue increased replacements, causing damage to its overall revenue and reputation.

However, if you are waiting patiently for a foldable hybrid launch, we will not ask you to hold your breath, as Apple takes immensely long to adopt the various technological standards as its competitors. Remember that Samsung introduced its first foldable smartphone in 2019, and Apple has yet to launch anything close to it.
