If these newly spotted retail listings are to be believed, we could be just weeks - or even days - away from learning about four new and unannounced Nintendo-published games headed to Switch.
If you were browsing our site yesterday, you'll have seen that a number of potential, unnannounced third-party Switch games were hinted at by new listings on Amazon France. It's exciting enough to see that the likes of Bethesda, Ubisoft and Warner Bros. might have a few Switch games up their sleeves, but these new Nintendo listings are the icing on the cake.
You can see the new listings for yourselves here, here, here, and here. Simply called 'Nintendo Game 1', 'Nintendo Game 2' etc. at the moment, each listing features a placeholder image of a previous Nintendo product and stops short of giving anything else away other than the platform - Nintendo Switch. Each listing also has a placeholder 31st December release date, which is commonly used by retailers for products when an official date hasn't yet been revealed.
Here's what the pages look like at the time of writing. 'Bring Nintendo Game 3 to Switch, you cowards'.
Between these Nintendo listings and those third-party ones from yesterday, it certainly seems like something could be about to go down. We wouldn't advise getting your hopes up too much just in case, but we are about to enter what would have been E3 season. And then, of course, we have those reports of several Mario remasters headed our way.
We'll let you mull that thought over in the comments below.

This makes sense given the time of year. Retailers are often told of announcements coming during E3 (2nd week of June) so pre-orders can be ready while fans are excited. I still have Metroid Prime 4 pre-ordered from 2017 lol.
A Direct is unlikely given the rumblings. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a string of social media reveals throughout the month of June.
What's with the incineroar amiibo photo? Have I missed something here?
I think the guy who has had a decent track record mentioned a potential mini Direct May/June to help with E3 withdrawal.
Could be this.
EARTHBOUND REMAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahem, sorry I got my hopes up.
Really hope to see some cool surprises. Also I would like to see the Prime trilogy making it's way to Switch, played the first one on the GC loved it so much!! but never got around to play the rest.. Time to make up for that!
Mario All-Stars 3D and Metroid Prime Trilogy... or mobs with pitchforks. Your choice Nintendo.
@JoeM103 its just a placeholder picture, it could be anything really, it could be new games or it could be a new amiibo series who knows.
Let's hope they make a kind of Direct (although in a different way) during the E3 period...
It's funny they're mentioning 4 games, as it's compatible with my last bet of how the second half of the year will look: Pikmin 3 deluxe, Metroid 2D, Mario 3D World Deluxe and Mario All Stars 2. That would be I think the rest of the year for Nintendo, plus Bayonetta 3 in november. Not bad at all, imo.
A few I’d like: tomb raider (new trilogy) and Prey from Bethesda
So I thought this yesterday, and I had the same thought reading this post.
It’s very easy to ‘predict’ games by just naming the gaming companies, without a release date and without a title. We already have a bunch of officially announced games without release dates, it could very well be those same games.
Not to mention, wait long enough and the company will surely release a game.
I will be psyched when they actually share new titles, give us release dates of the ones we know that are coming or both.
@Morph Got ya. Just couldn't understand why amazon would pick a random picture like that and not have a stock photo of 'image currently unavailable' or something along those lines. Cheers for the help pal
This to me is a lot more exciting. Seen some people saying prine trilogy, and while I really want that to happen, many insiders are saying there won't be any metroid this year, even though trilogy is ready for release. However, with some games being delayed, they may move it forward, so we'll see
@TheFullAndy the general consensus seemed to be that there won't be a June Direct(that would normally coincide with E3) as Nintendo are not in a position to announce their exclusives. This is why Paper Mario got announced separately as that is ready.
What we'll probably get is more Switch games in developers own announcements throughout June(that would usually be in a Direct).
Nintendo game 1 - Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine Remastered
Nintendo game 2 - Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 Remastered
Nintendo game 3 - Pikmin 3
Nintendo game 4 - Breath of the Wild 2 or more realistically, Metroid Prime Trilogy HD
If it's not Metroid Trilogy, Wave Race or 1080, then, I'm not interested 😁
@elpardo1984
Yeah you are probably right.
A new F-ZERO? A man can but dream...
Hopefully we'll hear something about Botw 2.
@antster1983 fingers crossed
Skyward Sword, or I'm throwing my Switch out the window Nintendo.
Wario Land HD remake? That’s it...
Since the previous placeholders were titled after the developers, it makes sense and seems likely (though not guaranteed) that these would be 1st party titles.
I think Pikmin 3 and the Mario 3D Allstars game would take up 2 of those spaces... Mario 3D World remake is probable. I'm hoping for a new Mario Kart 9 but in all honesty I wouldn't have a clue. I think it's too early for BotW2 to get a listing yet but I could be wrong.
I have been wrong before...
@mesome713 let me know when so I can be there to catch it
Ok ok ok, just stop and give us the news Nintendo! The suspense is killing me. Just announce Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mario 3D world def. ed, Pikmin 3 def. ed. and/or F-Zero/Star Fox game.
Lower your expectations, people! You’ll never be disappointed that way. Here’s my worst case scenario prediction:
Nintendo Game 1: Geist HD Remaster
Nintendo Game 2: New Zelda! But it’s a port of Wand of Gamelon
Nintendo Game 3: Pilotwings reboot
Nintendo Game 4: Mario Paint (Mouse and keyboard required)
@Collette I actually want a Star Fox Zero sequel, really liked both the main game and the security guard spin off.
I guess mario 3d world deluxe is one of them if they want promote their park a little
@Collette Ring Fit without the ring included made me chuckle. Could totally happen!
One of them is Bravely Default, ofc.
It must be nearly June again. The internet is full of empty shop listings. I won't bother setting an alarm for next year. Or the year after.
Obligatory 3D Mario Collection/Metroid Trilogy/Retro/Donkey Kong/Halo MCC/Rare Replay/Pikmin 4/Mother collection comment.
@mesome713 "Skyward Sword, or I'm throwing my Switch out the window Nintendo." - Now you're talking! 🤪 haha
@LavaTwilight There is already a BotW 2 listing
@Chimera_Police Pilotwings isn't the worst case scenario. It could be a port of Hotel Mario with nothing changed apart from a new mandatory control scheme in which you use motion controls only and no buttons
Would the games be Metroid Prime Trilogy, Pikmin Remake, Mario Classic Bundle, and Harvest Moon World? I did see a rumor for Dimond and Pearl remake though.
Haha I clicked on the game 1 and saw Ring Fit.... And I was confused. This game came out last year..... Until I read the next sentence of the article haha
My completely serious wishlist:
Link's Crossbow Training: Breath of the Wild Edition
Paper Mario: Sticker Star HD
Metroid: Other M 2
Mario Is Missing: Switch Edition
Honestly, these could be about anything. Can't wait for the reveals!
I still wonder how much of Nintendo's silence is truly that their development is behind, hardware sales can't keep up, therefore they really can't/don't want to advertise anything......or if they're using this as an excuse to clam up while they wait out Sony and Microsoft's hardware announcements and fanfare (or to see if they'll happen at all.)
No other company seems to have all this "difficulty" in presenting information currently that Nintendo does. Except Sony that chose to go silent a year ago.
I hope for a direct, theres this feeling in the air of big anouncements commin. I dont know how hard could be to assemble a normal video presentation taking in to account the virus, just put the trailers and some announcer. This is the time when we need digital events, since we cant go out from home.
Pikmin 1 - HD Remaster
Pikmin 2 - HD Remaster
Pikmin 3 - HD Remaster
Pikmin 4 - About Time
You know it makes sense!
@HarryHyruleHero Then one of those listings is definitely not BotW2
Exciting times, indeed! Feels like a video game free for all and I'm loving the buzz this unpredictability is creating. Hopefully, the titles live up to the excitement
Probably the rumored games:
Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Mario 3D World Deluxe
Mario Remasters
@zitpig That would be AMAZING!!!!
Two of the Square Enix placeholders from yesterday list Switch as the only console.
We have two chances for the Kingdom Hearts recollections to come to Switch, given Nintendo platforms are the only ones without the compilations at this point.
Looking at you Square. Your move.
@HarryHyruleHero ha! That may be my personal worst case scenario. I never “got” the appeal of Pilotwings. But there are other options like the Mario time travel game to consider
@Tyranexx ha! I never played Other M. Was it really that bad? I actually enjoyed Sticker Star and would be game for ports of all the Paper Mario and Marion and Luigi games. The art style and humor totally holds up and would be perfect for Switch - not sure how many had weird mechanics that would need to be reworked though. Not that I’d be sad to no longer have to blow air at a microphone or use a stylus.
@Collette Ha! Nice! I would actually totally buy the reverse. The ring for Ring Fit Adventure with a download code.
I was excited for Nintendo Game 3, but I can't wait to play Nintendo Game 4. So hyped
@tourjeff Man wave race, that brings back memories. The best we have right now is riptide renegade. Unless I missed a better wave race type game along the lines.
@Chimera_Police When I mentioned Other M, it was mostly tongue-in-cheek. XD I've played the game and enjoyed it for the most part. It does feel like a Metroid game at its core and has some fun mechanics and (for the time) neat visuals. Some of the story complaints are valid, but I didn't think it was a complete dumpster fire either. It isn't worth the $50 it was at release though. I secured a new copy off of Amazon for about $7 two years ago and thought it was more than worth it at that price.
I haven't played any of the games out of the Mario & Luigi series yet, but I hope a new entry comes to the Switch before long. In terms of the Paper Mario series, I've played Super Paper Mario and Color Splash and enjoyed them both. Looking forward to Origami King!

I noticed a few days ago that Argos are already listing the following for pre-order:
Metroid Prime 4 - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8108234
Breath of the Wild 2 - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1408632
Not developed by Nintendo but Gods and Monsters and Pillars of Eternity 2 are also there.
Personally I think 'we've' (OK, just me then?) all been wanting faaaar too long for a new FZero! Hell, get in the permataned, original mid life crisis in the form of Toshihiro Nagoshi. His now sadly defunct AV team did an absolutely sterling job 17 years ago with Nintendo's futuristic IP! I mean after all, their shot at the FZero title was easily one of the best entries into the franchise with FZero GX. It was very probably an extremely close second on the podium after the sublime original.
Failing that why not bring in Testuya Mizuguchi to refresh the franchise? What, after both the Suberb Sega Rally and Rez and various other titles under his techno dance belt, I'm extremely confident he can teach the rusting and criminally neglected Blue Falcon and the captain some new tricks. Imagine Mute City with Mizuguchi's audio-visual trippy pyrotechnics applied!
Dream scenario... get them both in! (which, definitely will never happen unfortunately)
But seriously, for the love of Yoshi's adopted step son. Nintendo just do SOMETHING with the franchise! Anything! There's an absolute ***** load of ideas I can think of that could be implemented into a new FZero! So if I can, how come nobody at Nintendo can?
Also Wave Race 64 needs a genuine follow up! Blue Storm was OK, but it definitely lost some of its lustre after the N64 'original' (to me at least)
1080 Snowboarding as well! (NEVER happen sadly, as the freelance team involved are all long disbanded) but one can dream.
Last but not least... Pilotwings. Another one of their IP's that's not gotten properly off the off the ground (pun fully intended) in nearly 24 years!!! Yes, unfortunately I'm hankering after the "golden age" of video gaming and my long gone youth a tad too much here admittedly. But all of the aforementioned IP's SURELY have got some life in them?
Food for though.
@Marnandez I hope
This makes me hopeful, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mario remasters are part of this.
Either these are fake listings like the Mario Odyssey and various PS4 game listings for PC were or there's a Direct soon. Even if it's just a Direct Mini like the one in March.
I doubt Nintendo would have several game announcements in close succession outside a Direct, they'd probably spread it out like 1 per month instead.
@GrailUK Honestly a mother 3 remake also seems likely at this point. More than a port given that Nintendo has been going hard with 3d remakes of games and it's 14 years old
Nintendo Game 1: Endless Ocean 3: Atlantis is Calling
Nintendo Game 2: Eternal Darkness 2: Ancients
Nintendo Game 3: Disaster: Day of Crisis 2 - Asteroids
Nintendo Game 4: Super Mario & Epic Mickey: An Odyssey in Fantasia
@Morph The listing says game. So.. it's either a game or it's fake and it's nothing.
@whatyoulookingat Except Bravely Default II already has a listing.
@Tyranexx I would buy Sticker Star HD and Other M 2. Probably Mario is Missing as well. Not the crossbow training, though. Can't stand that Wiimote stuff!
@Cosats I like the way you think. Add in a new rogue Squadron game and that would be me bankrupted for a little while.
@Deltath means nothing, I'd wager Amazon don't differentiate between games and other merchandise in their placeholder pages
@FlashmanHarry Thanks
to Nintendo Life: change the way replies appear. Your system is a decade old.
Store listings almost never predict launches of new games.
A couple of Mario games, Pikmin 3 plus one of Bayonetta 3 or Detective Pikachu
Awesome news flash, Nintendo will be releasing some games this year that we do not already know about, imagine my shock.
Now time for even more speculation on top of the previous speculation, more rumors from the so called " industry insiders ", who always get far more wrong than they do right, we all know Nintendo would be crazy not to port the Metroid Prime series of games to the Switch as there is a new title in development, we also all know it's Mario's 35th anniversary so it's also very likely there will be a lot of Mario related content to celebrate, hardly the most surprising rumors ever.
Oh I nearly forgot Pikmin, a game series that's sales are pretty awful to say the least, that Nintendo would have spent a lot of time and money developing for the Wii U, that had even less chance of selling well as only 5 people owned the console, are now possibly thinking of porting to the Switch with it's 50 million or so installed base as a deluxe version, I just do not know how these people are coming up with such awesome rumors.
I much prefer the internet idiots who just basically produce Nintendo game wish lists, with a few rumors thrown in to make it a little more possible, and state their uncle works for Nintendo.
@Xansies If they use the Link's Awakening engine, they can totally capture the feel and vibe of the tourist guide that came with it. (All the illustrations had that solid, clay type aesthetic. It would be PERFECT!)
I'm not excited because they are just going to be either another port from ps3 no one cares about a downgraded ps4 port or some boring indie game. The switch is by far Nintendo's biggest let down. I'll hold onto it this year and if nothing take my interest I'll just sell it.
I want a new Wii Sports U on the Switch!
@Mariosmaster1 ...yeah you should get rid of your Switch now. Like, go to the store and get rid of it, you've already made up your mind.
After all, these are first party published retail titles, so they aren't going to be a bunch of PS3/PS4 ports or indie games, that's just blatantly untrue. We've had two titles in the life of the switch that fits that criteria sort of (Dragon Quest XI S and Snipperclips Plus), we aren't getting four more at once. Now, if you said all four were Wii U ports it'd be possible at least, but not probable.
@RPGamer Love that Anime!
@Morph Well, you'd be wrong. They do.
@link3710 I want new games not ports I didnt pay £350 for games I already played and 2 ports in the switches life lol guess you missed all the resident evil, every mario game apart from odyssey and maker, borderlands, bulletstorm skyrim and all.the other nonsense I already played and beat take your fan boy attitude and shove it I have a pc to play those games on not some mediocre under powered tablet lol
We are getting closer and closer to the Mario 3D remakes being true.
@Mariosmaster1 I'm not a fanboy. I love my PC and my Switch and my PS4. But you clearly want the switch to be something it isn't, and are now making up scenarios that are literally impossible. You clearly are at the stage where you are so upset you hate the console, so sell it and get one that suits you. Maybe PC or PS4, or wait for the XBSX? Doesn't matter really, but the Switch will never have games to satisfy you.
Edit: in case my point isn't clear: Stop making yourself miserable and get something that makes you happy. It doesn't matter what system you have as long as you like it.
Let us hope that my pleas for Battletoads has been answered!
@Mariosmaster1
I have had every console except the 3DS and WiiU and I think the Switch is the best one (outside of the crappy Joycon design). It has some of the best AAA and indie games out there and the volume is outstanding. If you like cutting edge graphics then the upcoming Playstation and Xbox will be the ticket. Nintendo just believes in game play not raytracing.
Good luck with whatever you do.
@Deltath To be honest, I would try a new Link's Crossbow Training game as I don't mind motion controls (though they aren't perfect lol). I'd even try an Other M 2 as I actually liked the original. Heck, for a cheap price I'd even try out a new version of Mario Is Missing. XD
Sticker Star though....Well, we'd have to see. I haven't played it. I've been debating picking up the 3DS game if I can find it ridiculously cheap. Not sure how much of it I'd end up playing though. I enjoyed Color Splash for the most part, which I've been told is somewhat like SS. However, CS does have flaws which I'm told are more pronounced in SS.
This is not news. This isn't anything.
@Deltath haha, they don't always but whatever you want, peace
Any chance we get some first party announcements from Nintendo this coming week since Sony is showing the PS5 on 6/4?
Starfox, Pilotwings, Metroid, Mario, I’m happy 😃
@GrailUK But Earthbound is already perfect.
@RchUncleSkeleton If they can get it looking like the tourist guide / manual with the Link's Awakening engine, it would be MORE perfect hehe ^^
Nintendo Game 1: Super Mario All-Star 2/3D
Nintendo Game 2:Metroid Prime Trilogy HD or 2D Metroid game that continues the Metroid Fusion history
Nintendo Game 3ikimin HD Collection
Nintendo Game 4:Bayonetta 3
@Cosats
Good call with Endless Ocean. Such a beautiful game. Not played the sequel much but the game deserves a part 3.
Endless Ocean 3
Project Zero 6
Please!
@JoeM103 this Placeholders pictures is only to ilustrate the game Nintendo gonna reveal one day in a Nintendo Direct or trailer in Social Media and Nintendo oficial YouTube Channel like Paper Mario:The Origami King, after Nintendo reveal this games Amazon gonna replace this image with the tentative or final box art of the games revealed.
Persona 5 Royal, GTA V, FF VIIR, RE7
