DOOM Eternal Will Tease Its Second DLC Episode Later This Month

I don’t think I’ve ever returned to a game like a year after it released just for an expansion in this way. This is why I’m waiting to play DOOM Eternal.

@nessisonett Really? Huh. I have - lots of times. Just last year I bought and played through the DLC for Dead Space 2 on PS3, and that came out in what, 2011? Hahaha.. Different strokes I guess 🤷‍♂️

@everynowandben If I finish a game then for me, that’s it done. I don’t really see the point in only going back to play an expansion. By that point I’m ready for another playthrough if I enjoyed it enough!

I haven't even touched Part One. I'll probably play all of the expansions once all of the DLC for Eternal is out.

I got the game late last year on offer from playstation store. I haven't played it yet, and I'm not sure if to play it on my ps4 pro or wait till I get a ps5 and get the free upgrade. I didn't think I would like it but the first game was great, I never played the original games though.

Good news! I've been waiting for this second DLC to drop before I get stuck into the main campaign of Doom Eternal. I don't like taking long breaks between main game and DLC, my enthusiasm wanes and I forget the controls.

Doom Eternal is really a phenomenal experience no matter what system you play it on. But if you are waiting for the PS5 upgrade then I guess you are more patient than I am

I'd recommend you play through the first dlc right now, then take a break before going into the second when it releases. Combat in the dlc is absolutely relentless and even as a seasoned old school fps player I still got my ass handed to me numerous times.

@PegasusActual93 I heard the DLC was tough, even compared to the difficulty spike that the Plutonia Experiment brought to the table.

I think DOOM Eternal went a bit overboard compared to DOOM 2016. Too many new mechanics to keep track of during playing which takes away the focus from just shooting things. It feels like 'sequel syndrome' where everything has to be BIGGER and BETTER where a more streamlined experience would be just as good or even better.

I think I'll wait for the PS5 upgrade before going back in. That's still coming, right?

@Flurpsel I thought the same. Wasn't a fan but bought DOOM 2016 dirt cheap on ebay. Absolutely loved it and bought Eternal day one. I did enjoy it but found the increased platforming sections frustrating at times and especially toward the end there was so much going on in combat it was difficult to keep track.

@Channel42 yeah it's a shame because the shooting and gunplay still feel fantastic. It's all just a bit too chaotic for my taste.

If you've mastered the base games mechanics then you should be fine its just that the ancient gods throws a borderline insane number of demons at you so you best not forget what weapons work best on what demons.

Loved the base game. Completed it in nightmare. It was challenging but fair. Respected the base mechanics.

The DLC however, felt like a fan made level just throwing in all possible monsters in for the sake of doing so. Very frustrating to play, I just dropped it

Yeah I have heard good things about it and it seems like a well optimised game too. Well it's not so much about patience but I have a lot of back log games, and there is a few I haven't played such as doom eternal and crash bandicoot 4 that will have free upgrades for when I get a ps5. I will probably play them on both platforms though.

Extremely well optimized game. It looks phenomenal and has a silky smooth 60 fps even on a base ps4. ID Software have always done black magic with their graphics engines ever since the early 90s
